Once I thought it would be a great idea to design my own guitar. If you’ve got a CNC, a block of aluminum and some wood, feel free to replicate what I did. Here are some step files, someday some wiring diagrams and whatever I think you might want.

First, we’ve got the Body-File. This is the aluminum structure everything gets glued on/screwed on or magneted on. On the back of the aluminum a wooden piece is bolted, which also covers the electronics and gives additional stability. Don’t use too heavy wood, since the body+core pieces are already surprisingly heavy.

Then, there is the Core-File. “The Bean” (™, ©, Disney will sue you) is screwed on top of the body-piece (premade holes), while the bridge is supposed to be screwed on here. The necessary holes have to be made with the bridge in hand, since they all got their own dimensions. Ideally the contact point between bridge and strings is a few millimeters below the edge. The Neck-Cutout fits standard Tele and Strat specs.

The face-plates are clipped on with magnets to cover the aluminum parts of the body. While the only one necessary is the plate for the electronics, you may want to cover the rims also. Since they are only clipped in with magnets you can swap your electronics within seconds to give your guitar a completely new sound.

The combinations of different plates are endless. Do as it suits you. And send me some pics if you build one ^^
